The Guruvayur Devaswom Chembai Sangeetholsavam, which is being held on the occasion of the world-famous Guruvayur Ekadashi, will be held on November 16 (Sunday). The Sree Guruvayurappan Chembai Sangeet Puraskaram will also be presented on that day. The historic Guruvayur Ekadashi is on December 1. The Dashami day, November 30, is the commemoration day of Gajarajan Kesavan. The Devaswom informed that preparations are progressing for these ceremonies that will make Guruvayur a place of devotion.

The Chembai Sangeetholsavam is a commemoration of the Ekadashi Nadopasana of the founder of Karnataka music, Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar. The tambur used by Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar, who was the patron of music, was received from Chembai’s house in Kottai, Palakkad on November 15 and after receiving a reception at various centers, it will be brought to the Guruvayur Temple at around 5.45 pm on November 16 with a welcome ceremony and installed in the Sangeeth Mandapam. Kathakali Acharyan Padmasree Kalamandalam Gopiyashan will inaugurate the Sangeetholsavam at a function to be held at the Chembai Sangeeth Mandapam in the Puttur Auditorium at 6 pm. Devaswom Chairman Dr. V.K. Vijayan will preside. At the function, this year’s Sree Guruvayoorappan Chembai Puraskaram will be presented to renowned musician Prof. Palkulangara K. Ambikadevi. A musical concert will be held under the leadership of the awardee. The function will be graced by the Convener of Chembai Music Festival Sub-Committee and Devaswom Administrative Committee Member, Shri. K. P. Viswanathan. Dr. Sadanam Harikumar will introduce the award recipient. Dr. M. V. Narayanan
will deliver the keynote address on the occasion.
