Suresh Gopi, the beloved action hero and Union Minister of Malayalis, turns 67 today. For decades, Malayalis have seen the superstar Suresh Gopi as the male embodiment of angsty youth and fiery dialogues.

Suresh Gopi has become a good face in politics by making his presence known in the field of healthcare along with cinema and politics. He started his film career as a child artist in 1965 with the film Odayil Kada.

The fiery dialogue in the Commissioner, ‘Do you remember this face?’ is a lesson to remember even for today’s young generation. Many of us use this dialogue even in our daily lives. But it was only after acting in about 80 films that the Malayali audience saw the real spark inside Suresh Gopi.

Suresh G. Nair, alias Suresh Gopi, is the eldest of the four children of K. Gopinathan Pillai and Gnanalakshmi, who ran a film distribution company called Lakshmi Films in Kollam. He is an actor, singer, dancer… there is no field he has not touched. He is now a Union Minister.

Suresh Gopi, who lost the Lok Sabha elections in 2019, was elected by the people of Thrissur in 2024 with a majority of 74686 votes. Suresh Gopi will be seen playing the role of a lawyer in his 253rd film, Janaki vs. State of Kerala. Even though the release is in crisis, the Malayali community has not given up on the firebrand actor on the screen.
