“Till date from November, three cases of HMPV virus were detected. It is not an uncommon phenomenon.
Every winter such cases come. All cases were in mild form. We are not taking any precautionary measures
about it,” said Mr Mitra.
So far, Gujarat has reported one case, involving a two-month-old boy from Dungarpur, Rajasthan,
while Bengaluru has recorded two cases.
The first case in Bengaluru involved a three-month-old female infant with a history of bronchopneumonia.
She was admitted to Baptist Hospital, treated, and subsequently discharged. The second case, detected on
January 3, 2025, involved an eight-month-old male infant, also admitted to Baptist Hospital with a similar medical history. This infant is currently recovering and in stable condition.
